Amaç

The aim of the optician associate degree program is; To train qualified healthcare professionals with technical skills who provide prescription glasses, all kinds of lenses, optical vision devices and eyeglass frames to the patient, assemble, repair, detect and make them suitable for the use of the person in accordance with the standards, as prescribed by ophthalmologists. . The optical sector is a healthcare sector established with the aim of eliminating defects diagnosed by ophthalmologists and applying the treatment completely to the patient. In the optical industry, opticians work as a team with store owners and sales staff.

Mezuniyet Koşulları

Students who have completed all of the courses, practices, and who have taken the 120 ECTS have a right to receive a diploma. Graduation eligibility is determined by academic average score. For this purpose, the sum of the weighted scores of all courses taken throughout the education of opticianry is divided by the sum of ECTS values.

Önceki Öğrenimin Tanınması

Students can apply to be exempted from the courses they have taken and succeeded from the higher education institutions they have previously registered or from an institution whose equivalence has been accepted. Exemption requests, when necessary, are decided by the board of directors by taking the opinion of the lecturer giving the course.

İstihdam Olanakları

Graduates of the Istanbul Vocational School of Health and Social Sciences Opticianry Program can open their own optician establishments in any city or district they want with the title of "Optician" in accordance with the principles of Law No. 5193 on Opticianry, or if they wish, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant article of the same law, they can be responsible for optical stores belonging to private or legal entities. They can work as Responsible Manager Opticians, but also as optical technicians in refraction hospitals, contact lens production sites, warehouses selling optical instruments and equipment, optical glass factories and universities.

Ölçme ve Değerlendirme

In order for each student to register for the courses at the beginning of the semester and take the final exam, they must attend at least 80% of the courses and practices. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz can also be evaluated) to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. A student who receives one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course is deemed to have succeeded in that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he received a DC or DD grade, the grade point average (ANO) for that semester must be at least 2.00.
